Phillip Keveren is one of the more well-known arrangers for Disney music, the most impressive work being the Disney Recital Suites (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, the Little Mermaid). He took a completely different approach compared to the series by Makiko Hirohashi that I released earlier. Each piece in this album incorporates a popular classical tune. Beauty and the Beast, for instance, begins with the familiar Rachmaninoff Prelude in G-sharp minor (Op.32 No.12). These arrangements are quite different from the original, not necessary for the better. I personally enjoy Makiko Hirohashi’s arrangements more than this. But there are a few pieces in this album that are just brilliantly done, such as Chim Chim Cher-ee from Mary Poppins.
