This Game (2021 ver.), from No Game No Life, music by Mitsuru Wakabayashi, piano arranged by Animenz, played by Richard Yang on Yamaha N1X with Garritan CFX VST.
Animenz arranged the 2014 and 2021 versions. I initially learned the original but for some reason I never recorded it and I lost it. For the re-learn I chose the 2021 version, which is a bit easier but it’s what’s in his 2-volume sheet music books. This is such a difficult piece to get a clean recording. I kept playing over and over, getting more and more mad and frustrated. You can see this reflected by the tempo. This is truly an etude with difficult passages and arpeggios throughout. And yes, the glissandos hurt, increasingly so after each take!
As with all of my performances, I have my own interpretation, so the tempo, dynamics, etc may feel quite different from the original recording. Simply put, I play the way I like it.
