Nagi no Asu kara Piano Medley, music by Tomoyuki Nakazawa and Chiaki Ishikawa, piano arranged by Animenz, played by Richard Yang on Yamaha N1X with Garritan CFX VST.
For some reason I’m really into Animenz’s medleys these days. This appears to be the 2nd medley he released and from what I’ve heard, this was the golden era for Animenz’s arrangements.
I had a rough time when I first tried to learn the piece. Everything just seemed so awkward, the timing, the rhythm, unnatural arpeggio fingering, etc. But after I toughed out the notes, this quickly became much easier. I consider this overall average in terms of difficulty, but it is one of the pieces that’s pretty difficult to learn upfront.
I have to clarify, I recently recorded quite a few medleys in a row, Frieren, Zelda, NieR Automata, and then this. Honestly, I was quite burned out from recording long pieces. So for this one I didn’t spend too much time trying to arrive at a perfect take (or near one). I just settled with whatever I could get out of a 30-minute recording session.
0:00 lull ~ soshite bokura wa (OP1)
2:19 Aqua Terrarium (ED1)
4:32 ebb and flow (OP2)
6:20 Mitsuba no Musubime (ED2)
As with all of my performances, I have my own interpretation, so the tempo, dynamics, etc may feel quite different from the original recording. Simply put, I play the way I like it.
