Puella Magi Madoka Magica Soundtrack Medley, music by Yuki Kajiura, piano arranged by Animenz, played by Richard Yang on Yamaha N1X with Garritan CFX VST.
This is my absolute favorite medley from Animenz, full of magic, beautiful voicing, and more. Compared to the Frieren medley (my second favorite) that’s packed with a wide range of techniques, this piece is most difficult on the voicing, phrasing, and the arpeggios. The beautiful arpeggio section can even be compared to Swordland, where it looks easy on paper, but is very difficult to execute.
This appears pretty high on my difficulty list. I have to clarify, once this piece clicks and muscle memory kicks in, it does become more manageable. The difficulty rating was based on how difficult it was for me to learn it.
0:00 Introduction
0:41 The Magical Girls
2:04 The Battle Against Walpurgisnacht
4:39 Absolute Despair
5:46 Madoka: Goddess of Hope
As with all of my performances, I have my own interpretation, so the tempo, dynamics, etc may feel quite different from the original recording. Simply put, I play the way I like it.
